The first team to book their place in the Nations League final is Portugal, after beating Switzerland 3-1 last night. Hosting the competition, there is a little more pressure on Portugal to succeed but they didn't show any signs of that last night, although most of that was down to one man. Just like we have seen for a number of years, Cristiano Ronaldo led them to victory, they won 3-1 and he scored all three goals.

The game was tied 1-1 during a bizarre passage of play that left the Portuguese scratching their heads. In a strange few seconds, Switzerland had a penalty shout turned down before Portugal went up the other end, and won a penalty of their own. Then VAR got involved and overturned the first decision, which gave Switzerland their penalty and took the one off Portugal from the other end. In the space of seconds, Portugal went from having a penalty to go 2-0 ahead to drawing the game 1-1.

Then up stepped Ronaldo, he left it late but he found a way to get Portugal back on top. He scored what would be the game winner in the 88th minute, before adding another in the 90th minute to make this game look a lot more comfortable than what it was. Portugal now head to the final on Sunday, where they will face whoever wins between England and the Netherlands tonight.

After their success last night, Portugal are now odds on favourites to lift the Nations League trophy priced up at 10/11. Behind them, England are available at 2/1 and the Netherlands are 3/1, but only one will remain in the hunt after tonight.
