Ronaldo an Injury Worry for Juventus Ahead of Champions League Tie
Portugal were held at home to Serbia last night, leaving them with just two points from their opening two Euro 2020 qualifying games. This is a bad start for them, and it could also turn out to be a bad start for their star player, Cristiano Ronaldo. He was taken off injured during the game, seemingly with a problem with his hamstring, and an assessment in the coming days will determine how long he is out for.
In two weeks and one day, his club side Juventus face Ajax in the first leg of their Champions League clash, a game they desperately want Ronaldo for. Less than a week after that, they play the second leg, so an injured that keeps Ronaldo out for three weeks would keep him out for both ties. That would be damaging to the chances of Juventus, we all saw what an impact Ronaldo had on their win in the last round against Atletico Madrid, and he is someone they cannot afford to be without.
Juventus want to win the Champions League, and their desire to win this competition is so much that they actually bought Ronaldo specifically to help them complete that goal. They are dominant in Serie A, but needed a player to take them to the next level in Europe, and they chose Ronaldo to be the man to do that. For their sake, let's hope he's not out injured too long.

Despite playing away in the first leg against Ajax, Juventus are the 23/20 favourites to win that game. The home side are 5/2, but if the news about Ronaldo is that he will miss the game, then they are likely to shorten in the betting as punters back Ajax to get the better of Juventus without their star man.
