Rock Bottom Cardiff Struggling to Adapt to Premier League Life

Cardiff City have played eight of their 38 Premier League games so far this season and they are yet to pick up a win. They drew two of their first three games, but since then they have lost their last five in what has been a very tough run for them. They are struggling to adapt to life in the top tier, they are trying to play a defensive style but are simply not good enough and don't have enough goals in them to do that with any success. Where they go from here remains to be seen, but based on what we know so far, this is going to be a very tough, long season for them.

Four goals from eight games is far from what is required in the Premier League. Regardless of how good they are defensively, if they are only scoring one goal every two games they are not going to survive. This is why they must concentrate on playing a more expansive style in the coming games, if they don't score they will be relegated. Defensively they have not been too good either, conceding 17 goals which works out at just over two goals per game.

It is fair to say things look pretty bleak right now for The Bluebirds, and they will be desperately trying to improve their position when action returns this weekend. The good news for them is that just one win and other scores going their way could pull them not only off bottom but out of the relegation zone all together. There are quite a few poor teams at the bottom of the league this season, Cardiff are one of them.

When they return on Saturday, Cardiff face a massive game against Fulham, a team who were promoted like them last season and one who sit just on the edge of the relegation zone. A win here would be huge for the Welsh side, can they do it? The bookmakers have priced them up as the favourites to do so, with the price of 11/8 on offer for a home win. Fulham are priced up at 19/10, while the draw can be backed at 23/10. A vital three points are on offer, and both teams will be desperate to pick them up on Saturday.
