Although we are only a couple of weeks past the end of the season, we have already seen Manchester United linked with a number of big name signings this summer. However, while the fans will be hoping those come off for them, their first signing may come from a lot closer to home in the form of Championship player Daniel James from Swansea. The youngster has impressed recently, and it appears as though a big move awaits him, with Manchester United in talks with the Welsh club to bring him to Old Trafford.

While it wouldn't be a move to grab the headlines, it would highlight what Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believe is the best way forward for the club. That is to bring in and develop young players, just like what happened when he was a player there many years ago.

It is expected that United will go out hunting to sign a bigger name at some point, and they are currently favourites to sign another Welshman in Gareth Bale, but for now fans may have to accept a low key start to summer proceedings in the shape of James. This is a signing that is expected to be wrapped up over the coming days, and any United fan who has seen this youngster play in the Championship recently will be very excited to see him bring his pace and skill to this United team.

United need to improve their squad this summer if they are to get up into the top four and begin building towards a title challenge. They are priced up at 1/1 to get into the top four next season, and players like James and whoever else they sign will be needed to get them in there. Another Welsh winger, Gareth Bale, could also make his way to the club this summer, with United the 8/11 favourites to land his signature.
