Manchester Clubs Already Through but Playing for Top Spot
Both Manchester City and Manchester United head into their final Champions League games tonight, and both are already assured of a place in the draw for the knockout round. They cannot be caught and will qualify, although one thing that does remain is the battle for top spot. It is highly likely Manchester City will get that, while Manchester United look unlikely to finish top of their group.
There is only one scenario from the games tonight that will prevent Manchester City from topping their group. That is if City lose their game against Hoffenheim, and Lyon beat Shakhtar Donetsk. Should that happen, Lyon will top the group, although that does seem an unlikely scenario. Manchester United have it much tougher, and first of all they must win their game in Valencia. If they do that, and Juventus draw or lose their game against Young Boys then United will leapfrog over Juve and take top spot away from them. This doesn't seem likely though, as United have a tough game away at Valencia, while Juventus take on the group's bottom club Young Boys.
Both clubs will be reassured that despite what happens they will both go through, and that will make it four English teams in the Champions League knockout round, showing once again the strength of the Premier League.

Manchester City have failed to bring European success in recent years, but they are the favourites to win this season's Champions League. The bookmakers have them at 3/1 to win the competition, a much shorter price than their city rivals. Manchester United are available at 33/1, which makes them the biggest price club out of the four English teams that remain, and based on their performances so far this season, that looks to be a fair price.
