Tottenham have announced that despite his recent drink-driving charge, Hugo Lloris will remain captain of the club. Their star goalkeeper and recent World Cup winner Lloris was found by police driving at 15mph in a 30mph zone, veering across the road towards parked cars. Had any pedestrians been around at the time then things could have been a lot worse. When tested by the police it was found that Lloris was twice over the legal limit for alcohol in his system. He has been banned from driving for 20 months and also fined £50,000 for the incident, which he pleaded guilty to.

Tottenham have announced that despite all this they are going to stick by their captain, allow him to remain in his position and offer him any help and support that he needs during this time. However, fans will not see him on the pitch for several weeks after injuring his thigh before the international break. Lloris missed a game before the break at Watford and also missed two games for France during the break. He is back with his club now, but will not be in action for a while after the extent of his injury was revealed.

On the field, he is going to be a big miss for Spurs, who are hoping to land a top-four spot once again this season. We have seen Lloris put together some very impressive performances and he is going to be difficult to replace. However, this may allow his off-field problems time to blow over, instead of hanging over him while he is playing so overall this enforced break may allow Lloris the time he needs to get back on the football field.

There is no doubt that Spurs would have loved to have Lloris in the line up this weekend when they face a tough opponent in Liverpool. The Reds head to Wembley with a perfect record of four wins from four games and this is going to be a very difficult afternoon for the London side. Despite being away from home, Liverpool are favourites for the game at 13/10 with their hosts priced up at 2/1. The draw will interest many here and that can be backed at 5/2 in what looks sure to be a very good game to watch.
