Liverpool are in the last eight of the Champions League against the odds, after going away to Germany and coming home with a win. After a 0-0 draw in the first leg at Anfield, they were under pressure and certainly the outsiders of the two teams to qualify for the next round. However, a brilliant team performance saw them beat Bayern 3-1 and make it through to the next round.

While you could argue that both teams were a little sloppy in this one from time to time, when it came to creating chances and taking advantage of them, Liverpool were by far the superior team. They have shown a lack of confidence in front of goal, missing their usual clinical edge in recent games, but that certainly wasn't evident last night.

Liverpool made it a clean sweep for English clubs in the competition, and now 50% of the clubs left in the competition play in the Premier League. The odds on an English winner look good, and with all four teams showing determination and quality in abundance during the last 16 phase, you certainly wouldn't like to bet on one of them lifting the trophy in May.

After their win last night, Liverpool are the 9/2 fourth favourites to lift the Champions League trophy Fellow English club Manchester City are the 9/4 favourites, and Liverpool are ahead of the other two English clubs, with Manchester United priced up at 10/1 and Tottenham at 14/1
