The Championship took another twist last night as Leeds United moved back to the top of the table thanks to a home 2-1 victory over Swansea. While they were doing that, former top club Norwich were beaten 3-1 at Preston in what was a bad night for them, allowing Leeds to jump ahead by one point. Third placed Sheffield United won a big game at home to Middlesbrough to keep in touch and they are now on 58 points, just two behind Norwich and three off Leeds as the title race turns into a three horse race.

While it would be a big surprise to see anyone other than these three win the title, the three clubs leading the way are not exactly playing their best football right now. Leeds and Sheffield United have own just two of their last five games, while Norwich are not faring much better with three wins from their last five. None are showing title winning form, and it is by default and the poor performances of others around them that all three remain in the hunt. There is no doubt though that all three are capable and should any of them go on a run they could easily put together a winning streak. With 14 games remaining for them, now would be a great time for someone to go on a four or five game winning run, something that would likely put distance between them and the other two.

It is highly unlikely that Leeds will remain at the top of the Championship after the games on Saturday as they are not in action due to the FA Cup games taking place. On top of that, both Norwich and Sheffield United face clubs at the bottom of the table, meaning there is every chance that Leeds are down in third by the end of the day on Saturday. Norwich are away at Bolton, where they are strong 4/6 favourites to take home three points, while Sheffield United are at home to Reading and they are as short as 4/9 to win their game.
