Newly promoted Barnsley have had four of their players selected to the Wales training camp squad which is heading to Portugal tomorrow. This squad will be together for a week ahead of their Euro 2020 qualifiers in June, and it gives players the chance to shine and show they deserve a place in the squad for their next two games. Although this isn't the squad named for those games, the players chosen appear to be the front runners for a place when that squad is announced.

Kieffer Moore will lead the Barnsley contingent, and he is looking to earn his first cap for Wales. Although born in England, he qualifies for them due to family ties with the country, and is now ready to play for them. He is joined by goalkeeper Adam Davies, defender Ben Williams and midfielder Ryan Hedges in the Welsh squad, and all of them were part of the Barnsley promotion team this season.

Having their players play on the international stage would be a big boost for Barnsley, and a sign that people are beginning to realise they are a good team, and one worthy of watching. Despite an injury towards the end of the season, Moore bagged 19 goals in League One during the promotion season, and he will be looking to hit double figures again in the Championship next season.

After a successful season in League One, Barnsley are back in the Championship at the first time of asking. However, bookmakers are predicting a tough season for them next year, and it will be interesting to see how they add to their squad as they prepare for life in the second tier once again. They are priced up at 50/1 to win the 2019/20 Championship, showing they are clearly seen as outsiders.
