Huddersfield are bottom of the Premier League with just 10 points going into this weekend's action and they are desperate to pick up three points. They have won just two games from their 21 played so far, a record that simply must be improved upon in the second half of the season if they want to survive. There is already an eight point gap between Huddersfield and safety, and one of the three teams on 18 points above them is Cardiff, their opponents in this game.

Should other games go against them, and Huddersfield lose to Cardiff then they would be 11 points away from safety after the weekend with 16 games to go in the season. It is only January, but already that would feel like a huge mountain to climb for Huddersfield, and they could find themselves staring down the barrel of a return to the Championship as early as next week.

With losses in their last five games, Huddersfield are not picking up any draws to give them something, and that is why they have fallen behind the rest of the pack. Other teams are managing to pick up the odd win or draw, while Huddersfield continue to lose. They simply have to get something from this game, whether it is a win or a draw in an attempt to create some confidence and make their move up the table.

The big game at the bottom of the table has been priced up by the bookmakers and they have installed Cardiff as the favourites. The Bluebirds are 5/4 to win the game, with bottom club Huddersfield priced up at 5/2 and the draw available at 21/10. We are not quite in must win territory for Huddersfield just yet, but they could really do with something from the game this weekend.
