Derby County snapped a three game losing streak last night when they came from behind to beat Wigan 2-1. They are fighting for a playoff spot right now, and desperately needed a win after what has been a tough couple of weeks for them. The three points they picked up moves them onto 54 points, which puts them level with Bristol City who currently hold onto the final playoff spot, although City do have a game in hand to play which would put them three points clear again if they were to win it.

Derby will really feel like they have missed an opportunity over the past couple of weeks by playing poorly. They had lost three and drawn one of their four games before last night, giving them just one point. Bristol City have also hit a slump, losing two and drawing one of their last three games. A good few games for Derby and not only would they have been in the playoffs, but they would have been clear of Bristol City and comfortably in. Unfortunately though for them that isn't the case, but they do now have something they can build on and use in the coming fixtures.

Both Derby and Bristol City are at home this Saturday, with Derby hosting Sheffield Wednesday and Bristol City hosting Leeds. Derby have the easier game, although Wednesday are unbeaten under new boss Steve Bruce, so they cannot take anything for granted. The bookmakers have Derby at 23/20 to beat Wednesday in their game, while Bristol City are the 2/1 outsiders when Leeds visit on the same day, with Leeds challenging for automatic promotion right now.
