Manchester City broke their transfer record last week when bringing in Rodri to the club, although the move went under the radar a little. With Tottenham making signings, Chelsea bringing in Frank Lampard and then Manchester United having their continued mix of troubles and new signings, little has been said about the Manchester City midfielder. However, he looks to be a player who will grow into being an important cog in the wheel at City, and a signing at a perfect time, one that gives him a season to really bed into the team and the Premier League.

£62.8 million was spent on Rodri, a big transfer and a record breaking one for City although with some of the figures floating around recently, it wasn't actually that big a signing. He is a defensive minded midfielder and you can clearly see the City plan here. They know how important Fernandinho is to their squad, and also know he is not getting any younger. Bringing in Rodri this season will allow him and Fernandinho to split playing time between them, taking the pressure off their current player and allowing Rodri the chance to slowly integrate into the team and understand how the Premier League works. Not only is he a great player who is going to help the team a lot, but he is one that has been brought in at exactly the perfect time to help in many different ways.

Manchester City claimed back to back titles last season and are looking to make it three in a row this coming season. They are priced up at 8/13 to do so, and their only credible challenger appears to be Liverpool once again, who are the clear second favourites and priced up at 5/2 to take the crown away from City.
