Championship Playoffs Begin on Saturday
Four clubs begin their last bid for the Premier League on Saturday, with two of them reaching Wembley after these two legged semi finals and just one of those remaining teams heading to the top tier of English football. The prize on offer is as big as it can possibly be, and these games are sure to be well contested affairs.
Aston Villa host West Brom in the early kick off and Villa would love to get rid of the memories from last season when they were beaten in the playoff final by Fulham. They come into this season's playoffs as the form team, with a long unbeaten run that they will be looking to maintain. West Brom are their local rivals, and that adds further spice to this one, this should be a great game.
Leeds and Derby are two teams that have had their differences already this season, with the spying investigation. However, that has to be left to one side as these two concentrate on more important matters. The big deciding factor here will be how Leeds are mentally. They are the better team out of these two, but they came within inches of automatic promotion, can they re-group and get going again for the playoffs or do they feel like their time has already been?
Aston Villa are the odds on favourites to win their first leg tie against West Brom, priced up at 17/20, with the away side at 17/5. Leeds are away from home against Derby in the first game, but they are also favourites, priced up at 11/8 while Derby are as big as 9/4 to win even though they are playing at home.
