Championship Leaders Norwich Face Tough Away Trip to Preston
After a thrilling weekend in the Championship that saw only Norwich out of the top three take maximum points from their game, attention turns to midweek and once again it is the league leaders that will be in the spotlight. They face a tricky away test this weekend, travelling north to face Preston in what is sure to be a tough game for them on Wednesday night.
Elsewhere in the league, both Leeds and Sheffield United are at home and have a chance to close the gap ahead of them, and just like every week, valuable points are on offer. The Canaries are two points ahead of Leeds in the standings, and with a superior goal difference, if Norwich drew and Leeds won it would likely be enough to keep them on top of the table. Sheffield United missed a golden opportunity to close on Friday night, and they go into their game on Wednesday five points behind the leaders.
Preston are not going to lie down easily for Norwich, and they come into this one on the back of a five game unbeaten run. They won at the weekend against Bolton, and the top half of the table will be their aim moving forward. Sheffield United take on Middlesbrough on the same night, who are currently in 5th position while Leeds are at home to mid-table Swansea.
Despite being top of the table, Norwich are not favourites to win at Preston, which shows the tough task ahead of them. The Canaries are priced up at 15/8 to win the game, while Preston can be backed at the shorter price of 6/4. A draw will more than likely keep Norwich top of the table unless Leeds score a lot, and that can be backed at 12/5 in this one.
