The Championship playoff final is just one game away for both Aston Villa and West Brom. Villa will be hoping to reach their second consecutive playoff final as they look to get back up into the Premier League, although if they do get to Wembley next weekend then they will be hoping for a better experience than the one they had this time last season.

Villa were beaten in the playoff final by Fulham last season, although they do have the vital experience from that game as they search to go better here. They were not at their best in the first leg of this tie, but despite that they came to life for a quick 10 minute period and scored twice to give themselves a 2-1 lead to take away. West Brom will see that as a missed opportunity, but they have to regroup and go again here, with the backing of the home fans.

The winner will move forward and face either Leeds or Derby in the final at Wembley, with just one club moving forward to the Premier League. Villa have the experience advantage, but they need to play better here, they may not be let off the hook like they were in the first leg if West Brom come out firing.

the bookmakers are struggling to split these two ahead of tonight's game. As far as the 90 minutes here goes, Aston Villa are slight favourites priced up at 6/4, while West Brom are available at 9/5. The draw, which suits Aston Villa overall and would see them through, is available to back at 12/5 but it is expected that Villa will push for the win here, as playing for the draw would be a dangerous game with things so finely balanced.
