Can Sheffield United Climb to the Top of the Championship Tonight?

Sheffield United play first in the Championship this weekend and as they sit just three points behind the top two clubs in the division, Leeds and Norwich, they have a chance to go to the top of the table tonight and put the pressure on their rivals. With a slightly better goal difference already, a win for United tonight would draw all three teams level on points, but give United the advantage and put them at the top. The Blades travel to Aston Villa, a club who are fighting to get into the playoffs themselves, so don't expect this to be an easy one, and for any neutrals out there, this should be a cracking game to watch tonight.

The top of the table has been seen as a two horse race for the past few weeks between Leeds and Norwich, but a never-say-die attitude from United has kept them close. Ten points from their last five games, compared to just six for Leeds has allowed them to close the gap, and they deserve a ton of credit for that. Leeds travel to face Middlesbrough tomorrow in what is going to be a very tricky game for them, and one that they could lose. Norwich have an easier task against Ipswich, who are at the bottom of the league, but that is a local derby for them and that adds a little more intrigue to the game than it would if someone else was playing them.

The bookmakers are slightly favouring Sheffield United for the game tonight, although there is little to choose between the teams. The Blades are available to back at 6/4 to win the game, with Aston Villa priced up at 15/8. A draw wouldn't really suit either team with the position they are in, and that is available at 12/5
