Can Manchester City Take Control in Germany?

Manchester City head to Germany tonight to take on Schalke in their Champions League knockout round game. This is the first of two legs, and despite being away from home, we will more than likely see City attacking here, and trying to take control of the tie before they come back to England. This is the third and final game between English and German clubs, and the Germans are yet to win a game, with Dortmund losing against Tottenham and Bayern Munich drawing with Liverpool. Can Schalke buck the trend and pick up what would be a shock win, or will City take control here and give people another reason to believe that the Premier League is far superior to the German Bundesliga?

With a Premier League title to chase down, a Carabao Cup final on Sunday and at least one more FA Cup game to play, this is going to be a busy couple of months for Manchester City, and they would love to find a game where they can rest players. A good win in Schalke would allow them to do that, as they would then be able to rest in the second leg. Trophies are a must for Manchester City, and while the league title is their most important, success in Europe is something the club wants, and so do the fans.

City are strong favourites to win the game in Schalke tonight, priced up at 27/100 to take home an advantage with them. The Germans are 11/1 to win the game, which is big considering they are at home and it is a game they really need to win, but all that does is highlights the gulf in quality between the two teams, and this looks as though it could be a comfortable evening for Manchester City.
