Brighton and Cardiff Square Off in Huge Relegation Clash
Although not the case mathematically, the final relegation spot in the Premier League looks as though it is between Brighton and Cardiff. The Welsh side currently hold that position right now, with 28 points, while Brighton are one place above them and outside of the relegation zone on 33 points. They also have a game in hand, so things are certainly in Brighton's favour right now. However, they face each other on Tuesday night and if Cardiff win this game then this battle is set to go down to the wire.
However, the Bluebirds will know that a Brighton win puts them eight points clear and whether they have that game in hand or not, it doesn't really matter, as there would likely be no coming back from Cardiff after that. There is no doubt this is a huge game for Brighton, but it is Cardiff that have the most to lose here, this is massive for them if they want to remain a Premier League club.
Both teams have struggled recently, and both come here on the back of three defeats in a row. While they have been losing, those around them such as Southampton and Newcastle have been finding a way to win games, and they have kicked clear. Although not mathematically a two horse race, in reality it is already, and it could well be a one horse race after this game is done if the home side win it.
