Bayern Munich had been hoping to head into the Champions League next Tuesday with their 100% record in the Bundesliga still running, however they lost that last night and now have to quickly regroup. Bayern looked like making it five out of five against Augsburg but a late goal from Felix Gotze was enough to earn the visitors a vital point and end the run Bayern had started.

Bayern dominated most of the game, and had scored a second goal earlier but that was ruled out for offside, leaving Bayern wondering what would have happened had they taken the many chances they had in the game. With the Champions League next week, Bayern are playing their next Bundesliga game on Friday night when they face Hertha Berlin. This should be a test for them, Hertha have started the season well, and it will be a game that Bayern want to win to get back on track ahead of the Champions League next Tuesday.

The German Bundesliga is no longer enough for Bayern, they have the quality to dominate that league, but their fans also want success in Europe. While winning the trophy is not something that they require, they do expect the club to go far in the competition, to show the rest of Europe that they are a dominant force.

The Champions League game that Bayern have next week is a home game against Ajax. The Dutch side are young and improving at a rapid rate so should prove to be a very good test for Bayern. It looks highly likely that these two will be the clubs to qualify from this group, and Ajax will know that anything they can get from this away trip will really help not only their qualification chances, but also their chances of winning the group. The bookmakers have Bayern Munich as big favourites, they are priced up at 2/11, while Ajax can be backed at 14/1 and the draw is available at 6/1.
