This summer was always going to be the biggest that Arsenal had faced as a club for a number of years, and the hard work off the pitch is continuing. New head coch Unai Emery is on the verge of bringing in two more new faces to the club with Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi reported to be signing in the coming days. With three players confirmed already and these two looking highly likely to join the club, the new look Arsenal is finally beginning to take shape.

When Emery took the role at Arsenal to replace Arsene Wenger, he was given the task of bringing Arsenal back into the top four, after they had been overtaken for a spot there by North London rivals Tottenham and also by Liverpool. The Premier League now has a top six, but only four a rewarded with the Champions League, and right now Arsenal appear to be the sixth ranked team out of the six. This has been a steady decline over a number of years, but it is something that Emery is looking to address now he is in charge.

One thing he looks to have picked upon relatively quickly is that this will not be an easy job for him, and it certainly won't be quick. Every signing he has brought in so far has been desigined with long term thinking in mind, and he has spoke positively about some of the youngsters already at the club. Santi Cazorla, Jack Wilshere and Per Mertesacker have all been allowed to leave, it is time for a culture change at Arsenal, and also time to get younger.

When Arsene Wenger first joined Arsenal he had a vision for where he wanted to take the club and Emery has come in with something similar. The reason why Wenger's ambitous plans worked at Arsenal was because he was given the time to put them into place, and that time needs to also be given to Emery. The fans and board can't expect immediate success next season, they have to be patient and buy into the methods and thinking that Emery is bringing to the club.

Whether they do that or not will determine how much success Arsenal have over the next few years, if of course they have any at all.

Arsenal 9/4 for Top Four Finish

With Emery in charge and new players coming in, there is hope that Arsenal can be better this season and they are priced up at 9/4 to find a way back into the top four this coming season. It looks as though this may be a season too early for them, but with positive moves, if anyone else should disappoint then of course Arsenal will be one of the clubs waiting to leap frog them.

Should the signings of Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi be confirmed then it would further underline that Arsenal are looking long term with their plans. Torreira is just 22 years old, and has played at the World Cup for Uruguay, while Guendouzi is considered an ever longer project at just 19. Both players will bring youthfulness to the side, and although they may not quite have the ability to make a huge difference this coming season, it is hoped they two can play key roles for years to come.

Plenty of people will be watching Arsenal this season to see how they perform, and also to keep an eye on the exciting young talent they are assembling.
