Tottenham fans now know the period of time they will be without their injured duo Harry Kane and Dele Alli. On top of this there are holes in their squad due to other reasons, whether that is players leaving, players coming back from injury or a general lack of options due to no incoming transfers. Can Tottenham cope with all of this, or is this the incident that causes them real problems both in the league and the various cup competitions that they are invovled with?

Both Harry Kane and Dele Alli have been given a return date of early March, though obviously that is very loose and will depend on how the players recover from their injuries and how quickly they can get back into training. Between now and then, assuming things go well and they return at the beginning of March, Tottenham have a number of hugely important games to play, where these two will not be invovled.

A Carabao Cup game against Chelsea on Thursday is the first big game, with a place in the final at stake for the winner. On top of that, Spurs face Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League last 16 stage, while playing an important FA Cup game on Sunday and also playing big league games as they look to hold onto third position and remain in the top four to ensure Champions League football next season.

These injuries are far from ideal, but coming at the same time and at a crucial time is what makes it far worse for Spurs. We will learn a lot about them over the coming games, although this is a tough period for them, and one they could struggle in.

The first test of the weekend comes on Thursday evening with a trip to Chelsea for the Carabao Cup semi final second leg. Spurs hold a 1-0 advantage in this game, but they will understand just how tough it is going to be when they head to Chelsea with their injury issues. The Blues are odds on to win the game in 90 minutes, priced up at 6/10 while the price of 9/2 on offer for Tottenham shows just how many key players they are missing and what a mountain they have to climb.
