Huddersfield Town v Wigan Athletic betting tips and preview

Huddersfield Town v Wigan Athletic betting tips and preview. Huddersfield host Wigan at the John Smith’s Stadium on Monday 27th November 2016. Last weekend Huddersfield lost again, this time away at Cardiff by three goals to two. Huddersfield goals came from Tom Smith and Philip Billing, but this wasn’t enough to take anything back to Yorkshire. Wigan could only draw 0-0 with Barnsley, and the clean sheet was the real plus point for Wigan who have both keepers to thank for it. Number Adam Bogdan was four from the field with a serious knee problem, meaning 41-year-old Jussi Jaaskelainen would have to play the final half hour. Last time the two sides met was back in early 2015 when Huddersfield won 1-0.

Huddersfield Preview

Huddersfield are clinging to their playoff place at the moment, as the Yorkshire side struggle for form. Huddersfield have only won once in their last five games when they beat Derby 1-0, but since then they have really struggled to pick up points. Town manager David Wanger will need to find a way of getting his side back to winning ways. His three at the back system caught a lot of teams out, but now they seem to be leaking too many goals, playing that way, he might need to find a new style to stop the rot. Huddersfield’s shining light this season has been the form of winger Elias Kachunga, scoring five goals so far this season. Although, Town will need him to add to that tally if they're to maintain their playoff hopes.

Elias Kachunga to score

Wigan Preview

Wigan find themselves at the wrong end of the table and in deep trouble. They are rooted at the bottom three and three points from safety, as Wigan have only one win to their name in their last five games, which was a surprising win away at Cardiff. Although away from home there has been signs that Wigan could turn things around, as they are unbeaten in their last four games on the road with three draws and one win. Goals at both ends of the pitch has been the problem for Wigan, as in their last six away games they've only scored three goals and conceded four. The goals against they will be happy with, but will need to improve on their goals scored. Will Grigg has only netted five goals in sixteen games so far this season.

Huddersfield Team News

For Huddersfield Joe Lolley is out until the new year with a broken foot. Jack Payne (knee) and Harry Bunn (hamstring) are both only rated as 50/50.

Wigan Team News

Adam Bogdan is out for the season after tearing his ACL last week. Reece James (ankle) and Alex Gilbey (ankle) are both out until the new year. Andy Kellett and Donervon Daniels are both back in training, but match fitness could be a problem.

Betting Tips & Predictions

Huddersfield will feel that this is an excellent opportunity to get back to winning ways, but they'll need to break down a resolute Wigan defence. I think looking at both teams form that this could well end up a draw.

Jasper Cillessen completes Barcelona move

By: William Hall

Jasper Cillessen has joined Spanish champions Barcelona on a five-year deal, with a fee believed to be in the region of £11 million.

Both Barcelona and the player himself took to social media on Thursday morning, to confirm that a deal had been agreed and the medical had been passed. This put an end to weeks of speculation about the move.

Barcelona has told fans that the player with be officially presented on Friday at the Camp Nou. The Dutchman is believed to have been brought in to replace Claudio Bravo, who is expected to be officially announced as a Manchester City player on Thursday.

With Cillessen taking to social media, he wrote ‘suenos se hacen realidad’ which translates to ‘dreams come true’. This really shows that he is happy to be a Barcelona player, and he is someone who has always looked to reach the heights in football.

Jasper has played all his football up to now in Holland, firstly breaking into the scene at NEC, making 34 appearances in a season, which earned him a move to dutch giants Ajax. He played there for five seasons, making a huge 101 appearances for the side.

The goalkeeper has experience at all levels in the game, having played at international level, Champions League level etc.

At the age of 27, he still has a lot to give, meaning this could turn out to be a great signing for the Spanish Champions.

There's a lot of expectation upon the players at Barcelona as they are expected to win many trophies, season in, season out. This is the pressure he will have to deal with. But from seeing him in the past, he has all the attributes to be a great goalkeeper at Barcelona in years to come.

Colorado Rapids vs Orlando City betting preview

By: Sajeesh Soman

Colorado Rapids from the Western Conference host Orlando City from the Eastern Conference on Sunday, the 21st of August, 2016 at the Dick’s Sporting Goods Park at 02:00. A win could take Colorado top of the Western Conference table while a win for Orlando City might take them into the top six of the Eastern Conference. We bring you all the team news, match facts and betting predictions from this fixture.

Colorado’s last match ended in a 1-1 away draw against the LA Galaxy as the home side bounced back from their midweek disappointment in the U.S. Open Cup. It was an intense battle but both the teams opted with a defensive approach and we could not see any goals coming in the first half. Second half though, saw the Rapids take the lead six minutes after the restart as Shkelzen Gashii scored through Marlon Hairston’s assist. The hosts recovered well to reply eleven minutes later as former Liverpool Captain Steven Gerrard’s corner was headed home by Daniel Steres. It was a match that could have gone either way and Colorado will now have to ensure a win against Orlando City in the weekend to gain the top position in the Western Conference table.

Orlando City were involved in a tough 2-2 away draw against Chicago Fire last weekend. The hosts took the lead in the sixth minute through a long range effort from John Goossens. Former AC Milan playmaker Kaka was involved in Orlando City’s first as his chipped past help Cyle Larin equalize for the visitors. Larin and Kaka were again involved as Larin’s shot was rebounded off the post only to fall into Kaka’s feet and the Brazilian made no mistake in giving Orlando the lead in the 32nd minute. Orlando should have killed the game with the opportunities they had but they failed to do so and were made to pay as Chicago Fire found a 78th minute equalizer through Razvan Cocis. Orlando will be disappointed not getting the three points but they have to put up a strong chance against Colorado on the weekend to get into the top six.

Team News (Colorado Rapids) :

Sean St. Ledger (Knee injury), Dillon Serna (Knee injury) and Jermaine Jones (Hamstring injury) will be unavailable for the Rapids this Sunday.

Team News (Orlando City) :

Pedro Ribeiro (Back injury), Rafael Ramos (Muscle injury) and Harrison Heath (Torn Collateral Ligament) will miss out for the visitors this weekend.

Betting predictions :

This is only the second meeting between the two teams with Orlando winning the first fixture 2-0. Colorado have the best defensive record in the league at home conceding only 5 goals in 12 games and they should emerge out as the winners this weekend.

Schalke 04 v Bayer Leverkusen - Betting Preview

By: Sajeesh Soman

Schalke’s dip in form has been very costly for them as they stand seventh in the table, level on points with Mainz and Borussia Monchengladbach with a big question mark over their chances of playing in Europe next season. Bayer on the other hand, should probably secure their Champions League spot with a win or two in the remaining games. Schalke host Bayer on Saturday, the 23rd of April, 2016 at the Veltins-Arena at 17:30. We at SBAT, bring you all the team news, match facts and betting predictions regarding this fixture.

Schalke’s poor run continues as they have now won only once in their last five games with their last game ending in a 3-0 away loss to Bayern Munich. The visitors remained strong in their defense, holding out the league leaders for 54 minutes before they couldn’t stop Bayern and Lewandowski anymore as the Polish striker scored his 26th goal of the season giving Bayern the lead. Lewandowski was at it again when he scored eleven minutes after the first to head in Bayern’s second of the game. The Chilean box to box midfielder Arturo Vidal registered Bayern’s third goal of the match in the 73rd minute to ensure that Bayern needed only two wins after the game to secure the title. Schalke need to react the soonest if they are to win a spot in Europe for the next season as they prepare to host Leverkusen this weekend.

Bayer Leverkusen edged closer to a place in the Champions League after securing a 3-0 victory against Frankfurt last weekend. Frankfurt started as well as Leverkusen did with Bayer goalkeeper Bernd Leno getting frequently tested. Leno passed his personal best of 507 minutes without conceding a goal. Bayer had to wait for 70 minutes for their first goal as Kevin Kampl scored a splendid volley from 25 yards out. Six minutes later, Bayer doubled the lead after Bellarabi was able to set up Brandt to fire his shot home. Bellarabi was involved in the third and final goal as he scored a beautiful low shot into the far corner from 25 yards out to improve Bayer’s goal difference. The win takes Bayer into the third position, making them safer in their bid to qualify for the Champions League.

Team News

Schalke 04

Matija Nastasic (Achilles tendon rupture), Marco Hoger (Achilles tendon rupture), Atsuto Uchida (Training deficit) and Leon Goretzka (Shoulder injury) are out for the clash against Leverkusen this weekend.

Team News

Bayer Leverkusen

Sebastian Boenisch (Tendon crack), Kyriakos Papadopoulos (Tendon crack), Omer Toprak (Training deficit), Chicharito (Wound) and Wendell (Red card suspension) will miss out for the game against Bayer this weekend.

Betting Preview

Schalke’s form has been poor in the league. That being said, they are unbeaten in their last five home games. Bayer have won their last five games, scoring 11 goals in the process. With the form both teams are in, Bayer surely have the upper hand in winning this fixture.

AC Milan v Juventus - Betting Preview

By: Sajeesh Soman

In the most high-profile clash lined-up in the Serie A this weekend, AC Milan host leaders Juventus at the San Siro in an exciting clash on Matchday 32 this weekend.

Whilst Milan are gunning for a return to Europe after two years; the Bianconeris are on course for an unprecedented 5th successive Scudetto triumph. Following a disastrous start to the campaign, Max Alegri’s side have found their verve again and currently sit pretty at the top of the table with 73 points from 31 games, six ahead of second-placed Napoli, who lost ground in the race after a shock 3-1 reverse at Udinese.

For Sinisa Mihajlovic’s men, the Rossoneri's are still struggling for consistency and their erratic run of form sees them sit 6th in the table with 49 points, trailing city-rivals Inter Milan by 6 points, who occupy the last European place. With both sides contesting this year’s Coppa Italia final at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, the game in Milan serves as a dress rehearsal for the highly anticipated clash on May 22nd. Having beaten Milan already once this season – a 1-0 win at home in the League – Juventus will look to do the double on the beleaguered Il Diavolo side for the third season running.

Stoke City v Aston Villa Betting Preview

By: Phill Barrs

Here we have our SBAT betting preview from the Barclays Premier League. Stoke City host Aston Villa at the Britannia 15.00 kick-off. In our betting preview, we have all the team news from both Stoke and Villa, along with stats and with our SBAT predictions for you all.

Stoke City end a run of three straight defeats in the Premier League when they beat Bournemouth 3-1 in the south coast sunshine. Stoke’s form in 2016 has been a million miles from the way they played in November and December. Since beating Everton 4-3 in late December, Stoke have only won four games in all competitions. The Potters were also dumped out of the FA Cup by Crystal Palace, and missed out on the Capital One Cup final after penalty heartbreak in the semi-final against Liverpool. Stoke boss Mark Hughes will be desperate for his team to rediscover their early season form, so their season doesn’t drift away to nothing.

Aston Villa are rock bottom of the Premier League, and it’s hard to see how they will get out of this predicament. Villa were thrashed 6-0 at home by Liverpool and booed off, before the FA Cup break. Villa boss Remi Garde looked as if he had the weight of the world on his shoulders, as he found it hard to say anything about the manner of his side's performance. The new didn’t get any better for Villa fans, as the news was leaked that during the FA Cup break Villa had played their U21 team in a friendly at the training ground. The crushing news that the young Villa team had beaten Garde’s first-team 3-0 will not please anyone at Villa. After hearing this news, many Villa fans wanted the U21s to play the rest of the season. After Villa failed to bring in any new players during the transfer window, it looks from the outside that the board has given up the fight and expected to go down.

Stoke beat Villa 1-0 at Villa Park in October, and will now be looking to make it a double against the Premier Leagues bottom side. At home of late Stoke have been far fro perfect, only winning 2 of their last six games. Aston Villa away record jump up at you, but sadly for the wrong reasons. They haven’t won in the last six games on the road, and it’s hard to see them winning here this weekend. Stoke have won the last two meetings between the teams, and look set to make it three on the bounce.

Team News

Stoke

Stoke have a mounting injury list ahead of the weekend games. Charlie Adam (calf) Geoff Cameron (ankle) Glen Johnson(knee) and captain Ryan Shawcross (back) are all out. Phil Bardsley, Marko Arnautovic and Mark Muniesa will all need late check ahead of the game.

Aston Villa

Aston Villa’s maverick youngster Jack Grealish has been ruled out with an ankle problem. Villa boss Remi Garde has had the best part of two weeks to plan how many changes he will make, following their home embarrassment.

SBAT Betting Predictions

On paper this looks like a banker home win. Stoke have beaten both Manchester sides at home this season, and it’s hard to see Villa offering anything against them here this weekend. Here at SBAT we are on a home win, do you agree with our betting predictions?

West Bromwich Albion v Peterborough United Betting Preview

By: Phill Barrs

Here we have our SBAT betting preview from the FA Cup. Premier League side West Bromwich Albion host Peterborough United at The Hawthorns on Saturday 30th January 2016 15:00 kick-off. In our betting preview we have all the team news from both West Brom and Peterborough, along with stats and our SBAT predictions for you all.

West Brom survived a big FA Cup scare in the 3rd round. They were taken to a replay by Championship strugglers Bristol City, only winning the second game 1-0 after drawing 2-2 at home. West Brom have struggled to score goals all season, they have only netted 22 goals in 23 Premier League games. Star striker doesn’t seem the same player that he was after not being allowed to join Tottenham in the summer, and boss Tony Pulis doesn’t seem to trust him anymore as he spends more time on the bench than on the field these days. This will be a tough test for the Premier League team as Peterborough have been in good form of late.

Peterborough lost at the weekend for the first time in 4 games, when they were beaten 2-1 by high flying Gillingham. Peterborough are yet to concede goals in the FA Cup this season, having beaten: Burton, Luton and Preston all to nil! Posh have sold star striker Conor Washington to QPR since they last played.

Last time the 2 sides met was back in 2009 when both times were in the Championship, with West Brom winning 2-0. At home West Brom have only lost once in their last 6 games, but with 3 draws in those games feels like far too many dropped points for Pulis. Peterborough have scored plenty of goals away from home, netting 13 in 6 games winning 3 and losing 3. If Peterborough can score early they will feel the Premier League are there for the taking. In the head to heads between the teams West Brom have a much better record, winning 5 from the last 6 games.

Team News

West Brom will be without midfielder James Morrison, the midfielder is out with a wound to his leg that required stitches and will be out for around a week. Pulis is set to make changes with Premier League survival being the priority. Striker Rickie Lambert is expected to start.

Peterborough will be without midfielder Jermaine Anderson, the youngster has a knee problem that will keep him sidelined for around 4 weeks. Posh boss Graham Westley will name a full strength team in a bid to knockout the Premier League side.

SBAT Betting Predictions

With West Brom’s lack of goals we don’t think this will be a high scoring game. The Premier League side should have too much for the League 1 team, but the magic of the FA Cup you never know. Here is our SBAT betting predictions do you agree?

Shrewsbury Town v Sheffield Wednesday Betting Preview

By: Phill Barrs

Here we have our SBAT betting preview from the FA Cup. Shrewsbury Town host Sheffield Wednesday, at Greenhous Meadow on Saturday 30th January 2016 15:00 kick-off. In our betting preview we have all the team news from both Shrewsbury and Sheffield Wednesday, along with stats and our SBAT predictions for you all.

Shrewsbury have been having a tough time in League 1, as they sit just above the drop zone. In the 3rd round of the FA Cup they shocked Championship side Cardiff City, beating the Welsh team 1-0 in a shock win. They face another tough looking 4th round tie, as Championship form side Sheffield Wednesday head to Greenhous Meadow. At the weekend Shrewsbury shocked League one leaders Burton Albion, by beating them 2-1. This could be the result that Shrewsbury need to ignite their season, and they will need more of the that if they are to have any chance of beating the Championship side.

Sheffield Wednesday are one of the most inform sides in the Championship. Wednesday have moved into the play-off places, and are unbeaten in their last 4 games. Sheffield Wednesday beat Fulham 2-1 in the last round, thanks to a late winner from Atdhe Nuhiu. Sheffield Wednesday will feel that they have a fantastic chance of making it into the 5th round of the FA Cup, and the chance of landing a glamor tie with one of the Premier League’s elite.

Shrewsbury have only won once in their last 5 home games, that was when they beat Grimsby 1-0 in the 2nd round of the FA Cup. Last home game they were well beaten, as Barnsley put 3 past Shrewsbury without reply. Wednesday’s away record is far from perfect, they have only won once in the last 5 games when they beat Fulham 1-0 in the Championship. Last weekend they drew 1-1 away at Reading, but let a lead slip away in a game they feel they should have won.

Team News

Shrewsbury will be without Jack Grimmer and James Wesolowski for the FA Cup tie. Full-back Grimmer is sidelined with an ankle problem, and looks set to miss the next 3/4 weeks. Midfielder Wesolowski is having treatment on a knee problem, no date has been set for his return as Shrewsbury continue to monitor the problem.

Sheffield Wednesday will need to take a look at Gary Hooper, after the striker came off at the weekend with a dead leg. Hopper should be ok and will want to play as he’s been in fine form, since making his loan move from Norwich permanent. Manager Carlos Carvalhal may make a few changes, as he looks to continue the fight on all fronts.

Tottenham Hotspur v Sunderland Betting Preview

By: Phill Barrs

Here we have our SBAT betting preview from the Barclays Premier League. Tottenham Hotspur host Sunderland, at White Hart Lane on Saturday 16th January 12.45 kick-off  . In our betting preview we have all the team news from both Spurs and Sunderland, along with stats and with our SBAT predictions for you all.

Tottenham head into the Premier League's early kick-off on the back of a home defeat, Spurs were beaten 1-0 by Leicester City on Wednesday night. It was Leicester centre back Robert Hugh who inflicted Tottenham’s second home defeat of the season, which was a bitter blow for their outside title hopes. Following the defeat West Ham are now hot on Tottenham’s heels in the race for Champions League football. Wednesday was the first time in eight games that Spurs had failed to score in, the last being a goalless draw with Chelsea back in November. Tottenham had more than enough chances across the ninety minutes against Leicester. The result highlighted the lack of depth in Tottenham’s squad, as the lack of attacking options from the bench was evident. After the game Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino confirmed the club were looking to bring in a striker, during the transfer window to lighten the burden on Harry Kane. The England striker has netted eleven goals in twenty-one games so far this season, but is the only recognised striker in the Tottenham squad. Pochettino will be looking for his team to bounce straight back against relegation threatened Sunderland.

Sunderland should have a spring in their step, after beating relegation rivals Swansea 4-2 on Wednesday night. A hat-trick from former Spurs man Jermain Defoe sealed a vital win from the North-East side. Sunderland have now won back to back game for the first time this season, which has given them a chance of avoiding the Premier League trap door. Since ‘Big Sam’ took over as Sunderland manager, he has made them harder to play against, as before they were very soft centered. Sam was very critical of the team, which he inherited as they were, in his eyes unfit and lacked a will to win. Now the transfer window is open Sunderland are sure to do some business, as Sam will look to bring in some of his own players a she tries to keep Sunderland afloat. The first port of call will be trying to plug a very leaky defence, as to date Sunderland have conceded forty-one goals in just twenty-one games.

When the two teams met at the Stadium Of Light in September, Spurs were 1-0 winners thanks to a goal from Ryan Mason. At home Spurs have only lost two of the last six home games, drawing two and winning two. They have been quite prolific at home scoring ten goals in the last six games. This is a game that they will need to win if they have any aspirations of playing Champions League football next season. Away from the North-East sunderland have lost four of the last six games, this form will need to improve otherwise they could be fighting a losing battle. They have conceded fifteen goals in six games, which is relegation form in any league let alone the Premier League. In their last two visits to the capital Sunderland have lost 3-1 to both Arsenal and Chelsea.

Team News

Tottenham

Tottenham will be without Clinton N’Jie who is sidelined with a knee problem, and Alex Pritchard who damaged ankle ligaments while playing for England u21s. Moussa Dembele is expected to return to the starting XI after the midfielder was on the bench for the midweek game with Leicester. Tom Carroll maybe the midfielder to make way for Dembele, if Pochettino recalls the Belgium star. At the back Danny Rose could replace Ben Davies at left-back, as this is the one position that Pochettino does seem to rotate.

Team News

Sunderland

Former Tottenham defender Younes Kaboul is out of the clash against his old club, the centre-back is suffering with a hamstring problem and could miss up to six weeks. Seb Larsson is still struggling with an ankle problem and has no more than a 50/50 chance of playing. Full-back DeAndre Yedlin is unavailable to play against his parent club.

SBAT Betting Predictions

On paper this looks like a home win, and would be a coupon buster if Spurs weren't to win here. At 1/3 Spurs are a bit too short back on their own, so we will have to look value elsewhere. We really can’t see Tottenham not winning, as they have been so strong this season. Even tho they lost in midweek they created enough chances to win two games. Chelsea v Everton - Betting Preview

By: Sam Turbitt

Here is a Chelsea v Everton betting preview from the Premier League. Find all the latest team news, match facts and our analysts thoughts. The game will take place at Stamford Bridge on Saturday the 16th of January.

Chelsea will be disappointed with their performance against West Brom during the week. The Blues took the lead twice through Azpilicueta and a Gareth McAuley own goal. Much to the dismay of the home fans Chelsea conceded shortly after going ahead on both occasions, showing a lack of discipline. Diego Costa showed his bad side again last night and seemed far too interested in off the ball matters. The Spaniard on his day is no doubt a world class talent, but he was the wrong kind of handful last night. Again Costa crossed the line on a couple of occasions and his focus too often on provoking West Brom players. As a result I felt his performance was weak for the blues and he could have helped his team more. Having taken only 15 points from 10 games this season Stamford Bridge is no longer the fortress it was. Guus Hiddink needs to get the belief back in his players and push them into the top half of the table. With 10 points separating them from 6th place Manchester United it is difficult to see Chelsea securing European football next season. Hiddink will demand a big performance from his side and I feel if they don’t win this game they can wave goodbye to Europe this season. Chelsea are way down in 14th place with just 24 points this season, only 6 points away from the bottom three, must try harder Chelsea.

Everton took a decent point away to Manchester City in their game on Wednesday night. Many had tipped Manchester City to take all 3 points at the Etihad given their more than impressive home record. Goals were also expected in that game and I was surprised to see a 0-0 scoreline. Everton I would say were lucky in the end to come away with a draw with John Stones bringing down Raheem Sterling deep in injury time. The challenge looked like a sure penalty and could have seen The Toffees lose. However that was not the case and Everton now sit 11th in the Premier League table with 28 points from 21 games played. Romelu Lukaku has been Everton’s main source of inspiration in recent weeks with 8 goals in his last 10 games. The Belgian forward will be hoping to find the net against his former club I am sure. Phil Jagielka has returned to the starting line up and put in a good performance alongside partner John Stones against Manchester City. For me Stones benefits from having Jagielka next to him. Jagielka steadies the ship where sometimes Stones rocks the boat by over complicating matters. No doubt Stones is a major talent, but he can learn a lot from Jagielka who is a season centre back who has learned his trade over many years and different levels of competition.

Team News

Chelsea

Radamel Falcao (muscle injury) is a slight doubt for the blues. Eden Hazard (groin) will miss the game through injury.

Team News

Everton

Tom Cleverley (calf) and Steven Naismith (ankle) are both doubtful for the trip to the capital. Seamus Coleman (calf) will remain sidelined for another 3 weeks according to Roberto Martinez. Joining him in the stands will be Tony Hibbert (knee), and James McCarthy (groin).

Betting Predictions

Chelsea really need a win from this game in their search for Euroean football. It would also do the world of good for the squads confidence. Everton though will think they have a realistic chance of getting at least a point from this game.
