Could JT be on the move this January?
John Terry’s contract at Stamford Bridge is due to expire at the end of the season and with no sign that Chelsea will be offering him a new contract, it seems that he needs to start thinking about his options.
There have been a lot of rumours going around that Bournemouth had contacted Chelsea about bringing him down south until the end of the season after they lost Nathan Ake with the Blue recalling him.
The 36-year-old centre-half has been struggling to get game time under new boss Antonio Conte, which has made it quite obvious that his love affair at the club is coming towards an end. Chelsea’s defence has been in great form this season with Gary Cahill, David Luiz and Cesar Azpilicueta all showing what quality they have.
There is no doubt that John Terry would have had a major impact on all of their careers, as he is a natural born leader. Terry was involved during Chelsea’s FA Cup third-round win over Peterborough, but it didn't end well for the former England international, as he was sent off in the 66th minute after taking down the Peterborough striker when he was in on goal.
It will just be a one match ban for Terry as he will miss the game away to Leicester on the weekend. As mentioned further up, Chelsea recalled Nathan Ake this month which looks as if it could be a replacement for John Terry.
It will be a sad time for John Terry when he has to move or retires after spending his whole career in London with Chelsea. He is a cult hero at the club, and it shows the end of an era for the club. He will always remain a legend at Chelsea Football Club, no matter what his future holds. He has played a total of 488 games for The Blues, scoring 40 goals.
If I’m honest, I cannot see him going anywhere. I think he will see out the season and then retire at the club he has given so much time to, and the club that has given so much to him.
