Manchester Utd veteran midfielder Michael Carrick looks set to be offered a new one-year contract extension. The former England international is coming to the end of his eleventh season at Old Trafford, and has been rewarded for his services to the club with a testimonial on June the 4th.

Carrick's agent said, “Contract talks have progressed well, and confidence has been expressed on both sides that an extension to his existing deal, which expires on 30 June, will reach a positive conclusion.”

The midfielder joined Manchester United from Tottenham for a fee of 18.6 million pounds in 2006, going on to make 457 appearances for the club and scoring 24 goals. Carrick is now 17th on Manchester Utd all-time appearances list. The former England star has won an abundance of silverware at his time at Old Trafford including; five Premier League titles, the Champions League, the FA Cup and two League Cups.

This season Manchester Utd’s best performances have come when Carrick has been in the team, as Jose Mourinho has grown to trust Carrick at the heart of his midfield. Carrick still has this season Europa League final to look forward to.
