Bet365 ran their famous £50 risk free in-play bet offer for Friday night’s quarter-final tie between Wales and Belgium. Wales came out the victors as did a wealth of Bet365 customers who got one over on the UK’s biggest bookie. It seemed we all knew something that Bet365 didn’t with some generous odds floating about on the game.

So here is how the offer works, place any pre-game bet of up to £50 and then place a bet of the same stake in play. Bet365 will then refund any losing in play bet, great offer, what’s to lose!

With this in mind, punters went in search of high odds bets, viewing this as a fantastic opportunity to win big cash at low risk. Our inboxes were inundated with winning slips with most popular choices being Wales to win, both teams to score in the first half and even Ashley Williams to score! So it was a bad day at the office for Bet365 who took a bit of a hammering that night, well-done punters!

Here are just a few of the slips that were sent into our inboxes on twitter and facebook. Some great winners were had. We managed to grab a few minutes with some of the lucky winners and find out there reasoning behind the bets, and their approach towards the offer.

Wales to win

bet365 winning bet slip on wales

Wales win was a very popular bet, we were sent plenty of slips which had Wales priced as high as 5/1! Easy money for anyone who had that bet on! We spoke to Craig Armitage from Hull who backed Wales to win at 5/1 in play.

Q. Hi Craig, firstly well done on your winning bet, what made you choose Wales as your in play bet?

A. Thanks, I thought that they were overpriced. I noticed them at 5/1 a couple of days before the game and could not get my head around why they were such a big price. In qualifying for this tournament they took 4 points against Belgium so the price on offer seemed a no brainer, I am glad I took it now!

Q. Agreed, we also felt it was a big price, so what did you go for as your pregame bet?

A. My pregame bet was over 1.5 match goals at 4/9. For some reason I fancied goals in this game, Belgium have scored a lot of goals in this tournament but had a number of people missing at the back.

Q. Have you done this offer before?

A. This was my first time in doing the offer, I had seen it posted on social media a lot and my friends kept telling me about it. For some reason I never got round to doing it but will be keeping an eye out for it now!

Both teams to score in the 1st half

What a shout this was, even better than the goal itself! We saw two people with the exact same bet on this, Radja Nainggolan's 30 yard screamer was one of the goals of the tournament, and also won a number of people a cool £850.

I caught up with Mark Thwaites from Aberdeen who was one of the few people to have placed this bet.

Q. Mark, what a fantastic bet, what made you choose it?

A. A bit of luck I guess, I always pick a first goalscorer when I do these bets and I am always looking for odds of over 10/1.

Q. So it wasn't anything to do with his hair?

A. Haha, it may have played a slight part!

Q. So this obviously isn't your first time in using this offer, have you had any big winners in the past?

A. This is actually my 3rd big winner, I have had Vincent Kompany at 25/1 before, that was my biggest ever win.

Q. OK so I don't need to ask if you are in profit from this offer overall then. Do you have a strategy for your pregame bets?

A. I always play it safe so i will stick it on something like over 0.5 match goals or under 6.5 match goals. Then i know I have a high chance of winning, and not losing out.

Ashley Williams to score 1st or anytime

Thought that was impressive? Check out this monster! Unbelievably we had 3 followers with this bet, we couldn't believe it, even one of the lads in the office had this bet on! Wales captain Ashley Williams covered a number of summer holidays with his header in the first half. £2,050 went to in many people's pockets when that goal went in, the bookies must have been tearing their hair out at this point as it also saw the both teams to score in the 1st half bet land. I spoke to Rob Castle from Essex who was one of those fortunate enough to have placed the bet.

Q. Hi Rob, firstly how does it feel to have just won £2,000 from a free bet?

A. Honestly, I am still shaking, I think I frightened the life out of my cat when I was screaming and running around the house.

Q. I am not surprised! Why did you go for Ashley Williams?

A. I thought that Wales would be a threat on set pieces and I know big Ash likes to get himself in the area. Belgium were missing some big players in defence and I just had a gut feeling that Williams might get on the end of one.

Q. Do you do this offer regularly?

A. Yes, however this is the first time I have used this approach, usually i go for 0-0.
