Angelique Kerber v Maria Sharapova betting tips and odds

WTA Australian Open - R3

Kick-off: 00:00 midnight UK time

Angelique Kerber is probably the in-form player in the WTA circuit at the moment, having won each of her eleven games of the year so far. Kerber has struggled for fluency towards the end of 2017, but she looked excellent in this early part of the new year. Angelique have won each of their four games at the Hopman Cup and then managed to win the Sydney tournament following a comfortable 0-2 win against Australian Ashleigh Barty in the final round. Here in Melbourne, the German player registered back-to-back 2-0 wins against Friedsam and Vekic, dropping just nine games in the process.

On the other hand, Maria Sharapova have won five of her six games on the hard surface, with her sole defeat coming at the hands of Katerina Siniakova in the Semi-finals of the Shenzhen tournament. However, she started the Aussie Open with two consecutive 2-0 victories against Tatjana Maria and Anastasija Sevastova. To be fair, Sharapova haven’t faced such strong opponents over the past few months, so it will be interesting to see how she will handle Kerber tonight. The bad news is that Sharapova have lost her last two meetings with Sharapova, although she managed to win a set in each of these.

It’s a tough one, but we believe that Angelique Kerber will win here as she has been impeccable in this early part of the year.

Ashleigh Barty v Naomi Osaka betting predictions and tips

WTA Australian Open - R3

Kick-off: 00:00 midnight UK time

Ashleigh Barty suffered an unexpected 0-2 loss against Lesia Tsurenko in the first round of the Brisbane tournament, but she looked much better at Sydney. Barty reached the Final in Sydney, but she lost 4-6, 4-6 at the hands of Angelique Kerber. Barty have enjoyed a strong run of form in 2017 and it seems that she have found some form of late. She managed two solid wins against in-form Sabalenka and Giorgi here in Melbourne and we expect her to continue this run with a win over Osaka tonight.

Naomi Osaka, on the other hand, have won three and lost two of her five games on the hard surface. She was eliminated from the first round of the Hobart tournament following a 2-0 loss against Putintseva a fortnight ago, but bounced back with two solid 2-0 wins against Kucova and Vesnina here in Melbourne. However, Osaka’s form over the past five months haven’t been very good as she lost eight of her last 13 games on the hard surface.

Ashleigh Barty beat Naomi Osaka 2-0 in the sole meeting between these two players and we fancy her to pick up another victory here.

Julien Benneteau v Fabio Fognini match and odds

ATP Australian Open - R3

Kick-off: 00:00 midnight UK time

Julien Benneteau looked solid towards the end of 2017, but he kicked off 2018 with a disappointing 1-2 defeat against Piros at the Nomea tournament. However, the French veteran player managed a comfortable 3-1 win against Daniel Taro in the opening round and followed this up with an excellent 3-1 victory over David Goffin yesterday.

Meanwhile, Fabio Fognini have been recently eliminated from the third round of the Sydney tournament by Medvedev, but started the Aussie Open in a confident manner. Fognini beat Zeballos 1-3 in the opening round and managed another comfortable 1-3 victory over Donskoy in the second round. Head-to-head, Fognini have lost his sole meeting with Benneteau, but that was eight years ago at Wimbledon.

Both players have been in good shape in this early part of the year, so we expect an entertaining affair here.
