Garbine Muguruza Preview
Garbine Muguruza has been in fantastic shape throughout the tournament, particularly in the last three rounds. She picked up easy victories over Alexandrova, Wickmayer, and Cirstea in the first three rounds, but her most recent three games were absolutely amazing. The Spaniard beat the former World No. 1 and last year’s runner-up Angelique Kerber in the round of 16 and followed this up with a two-sets straight win over the in-form Svetlana Kuznetsova in the quarter-finals. In addition, Garbine has demolished Magdalena Rybarikova 6-1 6-1 in the Semi-finals yesterday to book her place in the final round. In that victory, Garbine won 74% of her first serve points and 69% of her second serve points. Her record on grass this season reads eight wins and just two defeats, including a humiliating 6-1 6-0 loss at the hands of Barbora Strycova in the first round of Eastbourne six days before Wimbledon. Muguruza was without her coach Sam Sumyk for her game against Rybarikova, but she had Conchita Martinez on her side, the last Spaniard female to lift the Wimbledon title. Muguruza will become the second youngest member of the top ten after the end of the tournament, but she will definitely look to win the Wimbledon after losing in the final round two years ago at the hands of Venus' sister, Serena.
Venus Williams Preview
Meanwhile, Venus Williams made her Wimbledon debut in 1997, and this is her most successful Grand Slam over the course of her amazing career, winning five titles here along with finishing runner-up on three occasions. Venus has only dropped one set in the previous six games, which was against Qiang Wang in the second round. Venus has improved from match to match and showed remarkable skills in her most recent three victories over Ana Konjuh, Jelena Ostapenko, and Johanna Konta. In her win over Konta, Venus won 79% of her first serve points and 65% of her second serve points. Venus looked unstoppable in her last three games, registering just 37 unforced errors, including nine in her Semi-finals win over Johanna Konta. The good news is that Venus has played against powerful players in the previous three rounds and she is already used with powerful shots, so she should be ready for her clash with the Spaniard. The bad news is that Garbine has a much better return than Ostapenko or Konta, and this could be a problem for Venus.
Betting Predictions, Tips and Odds
These two players met just four times in their career, with Williams winning three of these. However, Muguruza has won the most recent game on the clay of Rome (6-2,3-6,6-2). Both have been incredibly strong throughout the tournament, but Muguruza has that something which makes her special when she is at her best. Venus has the experience, but I think it’s Muguruza time to shine, even in a three-sets clash.
