Aston Villa v Queens Park Rangers, Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Tuesday evening (19:45) fixture is a re-arranged Championship fixture from a few weeks ago which fell victim to the weather. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Aston Villa will come into the game full of confidence after their performance of the season last time out when they defeated Wolves 4-1 at Villa Park. The goals were shared around the team with one each for James Chester, Albert Adomah, Lewis Grabban and Birkir Bjarnason.

QPR also won their last match defeating Sunderland 1-0 at Loftus Road on Saturday afternoon. Jason Steele was dismissed on the 49th minute for the Black Cats and then Eberechi Eze netted 13 minutes to secure the three points.

The reverse fixture came in mid-November in London and it was the Midlands outfit who won 2-1 to make it three straight head-to-head victories. Jamie Mackie had given the Rs the lead but an Albert Adomah brace (including one penalty) saw Villa take the points.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Aston Villa should win this game given the way they brushed aside Wolves at the weekend though I think you can get more out of the price than just taking them straight up to win the fixture. I like the idea of Villa to win the game and both teams to score as has happened in four of the last five at Villa Park while QPR have recently netted at Wolves and Sheffield United.

Given that I think the game will see both teams to score then over 2.5 goals also looks a sensible play especially as the last seven home ties for the Midlands side have seen a total of 27 goals netted.

Aston Villa Preview

Villa made it three straight victories and ten points from the last 12 on offer though they still are waiting for a Cardiff slip up. The fixtures are kind as they have five straight against bottom-half sides before a massive home tie with the Bluebirds.

At Villa Park, they are now ten without defeat in the Championship winning seven of these and losing just three. Four of their last five at their own ground have seen both teams find the back of the net netting 13 times and shipping just five.

Lewis Grabban has netted in each of his last four appearances while James Chester has scored in his last two. Aston Villa have been behind at half-time just six times this season and just two in front of their own fans.

Aston Villa News

Glenn Whelan (calf), Axel Tuanzebe, Alan Hutton, Chris Samba, Andre Green (all hamstring), Gabby Agbonlahor and Jordan Lyden (both ankle) are doubts while Jonathan Kodjia (also ankle) and Jed Steer (dislocated shoulder) are long-term absentees.

Queens Park Rangers Preview

The Rs have taken four points from their last two fixtures to ease any relegation worries and they sit 13 points above the drop zone. They are about to embark on a tricky run with each of their next three and four of their next five on the road.

Away from Loftus Road, they have struggled with just two victories all season and losing ten of 17. A lack of road goals has been a concern with just 14 netted though they have grabbed five of these from their last four including a goal at Wolves and Sheffield United.

Three of their last four and four of their last six in the Championship have seen both teams find the back of the net. Massimo Luongo has found the back of the net in two of the last three.

Queens Park Rangers News

Idrissa Sylla (calf) and Grant Hall (knee) are doubts while Jamie Mackie (back surgery) and David Wheeler (ankle) are long-term absentees.
