Ipswich Town v Hull City, Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Tuesday evening (19:45) fixture is a re-arranged game from a few weeks ago that was postponed because of the weather.  Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Ipswich were in action at the weekend at Portman Road where they battled out a goalless draw with Sheffield United.  The Tractor Boys probably rode their luck a little to get a point from the match according to the expected goals data.

Hull were involved in a seven-goal thriller at the KC Stadium that saw them come out on top 4-3 over Norwich.  Abel Hernandez netted two penalties while Jackson Irvine and Harry Wilson grabbed one each in a game they deserved to win.

The reverse fixture came in mid-October at the KC Stadium and it ended in a 2-2 draw.  Jarrod Bowen and Nouha Dicko got the goals for the Tigers while David McGoldrick and Jordan Spence scored for the Suffolk outfit.

Betting Tips and Predictions

This looks a tough game to call between two sides in similar form and as such I would not want to make a prediction on the match markets with the draw the most likely of all three options for me.

Five of the last six Ipswich have played in the league have been goalless going into the break and this looks the way to play this.  Take this in two ways first the game to be level at the interval and then 0-0 in the half-time correct score market

1-0 in the half-time correct score market

Ipswich Town Preview

Town have picked up seven points from their last three fixtures and lost just one of their last seven as they try to keep alive their slim play-off hopes.  They are nine points behind Middlesbrough in sixth though this is their game in hand.

At Portman Road, they are four without a victory and have failed to find the back of the net in any of these.  These matches have in fact produced a total of just two goals so this perhaps not the place to be for a neutral.

Just one of the last ten Ipswich have played in the Championship have ended with over 2.5 goals.  Five of their last six in the league have been without a goal going into the half-time interval.

Ipswich Town News

Jordan Spence (knock) and Mustapha Carayol (groin) are rated doubtful. Tom Adeyemi, Teddy Bishop (both hamstring), Dean Gerken (hip), Emyr Huws and Andre Dozzell (both knee) are long-term absentees.  David McGoldrick (groin) is unlikely to feature again this season.

Hull City Preview

The Tigers have taken seven points from their last four fixtures and put a bit of distance between themselves and the bottom three.  They are now six points above the bottom three though three of their next four are on the road.

Away from the KC Stadium, they have lost six of their last seven and won just twice all season.  A lack of road goals is an issue with a joint-second lowest 13 scored this season though they have netted four from their last three road trips.

Each of the last three Hull have played in the league and four of their last five have seen both teams score.  Abel Hernandez has netted three time in his last two appearances since a return from injury.

Hull City News

Stephen Kingsley (groin) and Moses Odubajo (knee) are doubts. James Weir (also knee) is a long-term absentee.
